Poli Sarpa Oro Barrique is a distinguished Italian aged grappa from the historic Poli Distillerie in Veneto, Italy, a region long celebrated for its fine grappa production.
This expression combines traditional craftsmanship with the complexity that comes from extended ageing in oak barriques. The name “Sarpa” is Venetian for grape marc — the skins, seeds and stems left after winemaking, which are distilled to create grappa.
After careful steam-distillation in copper stills, the grappa is aged for several years in 225-litre French oak barriques in the distillery’s underground cellars, where it gently develops a warm golden colour and a layered aromatic profile.
On the nose, Sarpa Oro Barrique reveals aromas of exotic fruit, cedar wood, vanilla, toasted hazelnuts and almonds that reflect both the grape varieties used (Merlot and Cabernet) and the influence of oak maturation. The palate is smooth, warm and enveloping, with nuanced flavours that balance fruit-driven sweetness with gentle spice, toasted oak and subtle honeyed notes.
This grappa is best enjoyed neat in a tulip-shaped glass at around 18–20 °C, where its aromatic complexity and elegant finish can be fully appreciated. It makes a sophisticated digestif after a meal and pairs beautifully with dark chocolate, aged cheese or a quality espresso, offering a refined taste of Italian distillation tradition with every sip.
